Today, people across the world are celebrating Christmas. Whether for some the focus is presents, decorations, and family dinners, one thing is certain for believers who celebrate Christmas – Jesus is the reason.
And not just the reason for the season, but Jesus is the reason I live, move, and have my being. Jesus is the reason I get out of bed every day and choose joy and peace over everything. Jesus is the reason I have a new identity and walk in the likeness of Christ. Jesus is the reason my sins have been forgiven. Jesus is the reason I am free from unforgiveness and pain. Jesus is the reason I am clothed and in my right mind. Jesus is the reason I have peace that surpasses understanding and why I keep my head up and a word in my heart in times of adversity. Jesus is the reason I have the gift of Holy Spirit and resurrection power living within me. Jesus is the reason I stay ready to fight in the spirit knowing I’ve already won. Jesus is the reason I have victory. Jesus is the reason I know how to pray and call on His name. Jesus is the reason I walk by faith and not by sight. Jesus is the reason I am healed in my body and mind. Jesus is the reason I don’t act, think, talk, or look like I used to, but now I live as His light bearer and a willing vessel of Christ. Jesus is the reason I serve His people and use the divine gifts God has given me to help build the Kingdom. Jesus is the reason I love my neighbors as myself. Jesus is the reason I have hope for His return and why I trust in Him alone.
Jesus is the reason for my entire existence, and every day is a celebration of who He is and all He has done for me. Let us not forget the true reason we celebrate Christmas. We serve a God who loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins while we were yet sinners. We don’t deserve His grace and mercy, but I thank God that He calls me worthy because I am His child. Let’s make today and everyday a time to thank God for Jesus and to honor Him with our whole lives.
