How often do you incorporate worship into your daily offering to God? True worship involves honoring and reverencing God for who He is. Adoring Him with words or songs of praise. Worship begins with the sincere expression of our love for God and continues through our obedience to Him. Worship is our way to actively and consistently love on God. It goes beyond the Praise & Worship segments at church. Worship is personal. Psalm 59:16-17 is a great example for us. “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.”
Worship has the power to usher in peace, to change our hearts, to release an outpouring of fresh anointing, to increase our love for God, and so much more. Even when we don’t feel like it, getting into a posture of worship gives us the opportunity to honor God with thanksgiving and praises from the fruit of our lips (Hebrews 13:15). And He is worthy of our worship! No one can worship God for you. It’s personal. It’s deep. It’s reverence for who God is and all He has done for you. And if He doesn’t do anything else, He’s done enough. When Jesus died on the cross, rose from the grave on the third day with all power in His hands, and was seated at the right hand of the Father, it was enough. To think back on all He’s done, all the hell He’s brought us through, all the pain and heartbreak, all the doubt and anxiety, all the fear and dark thoughts, we can’t help but to worship Him!
In John 4:24, Jesus says, “For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” The Life Application Study Bible breaks this verse down for us. It says, “‘God is Spirit’ means He is not a physical being limited to one place. He is present everywhere, and He can be worshiped anywhere, at any time. It is not where we worship that counts, but how we worship. Is your worship genuine and true? Do you have Holy Spirit’s help? How does the Holy Spirit help us worship? The Holy Spirit prays for us (Romans 8:26), teaches us the words of Christ (John 14:26), and tells us we are loved (Romans 5:5).”
Be encouraged to find time to worship God daily. Whether it be first thing in the morning, on your lunch break —whenever and wherever. You can play worship music or sing whatever song Holy Spirit drops in your heart and worship God authentically — in spirit and in truth.
