Psalm Prayers

The Bible is full of various prayers. From Jesus providing the blueprint to the disciples in the New Testament, to the prayers in distress, the prayers for wisdom, the prayers for healing. There’s no topic that the Bible doesn’t cover – explicitly or otherwise. There is a prayer and an answer found in the Word if we search for it and ask Holy Spirit to reveal it. That’s why the Bible never gets old. It’s timeless and alive. Many times I’ve read through the Bible and found parts of my own life on the pages. Words I’ve wanted to pray but just couldn’t find the right ones. With tears in my eyes as I read the Bible, it reads me, and I’m grateful for the reminder of how God speaks to me, how He sees me, and how much He loves me.

In my reading of the book of Psalms, I found beautiful songs that I’ve taken parts of to make prayers. Here’s one I want to share in hopes that it blesses you.

I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.” (Psalm‬ ‭16‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬). You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬). “…Every day I call upon you, O Lord; I spread out my hands to you.” (Psalm‬ ‭88‬:‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬). I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬). Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings (Psalm‬ ‭17‬:‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬). Fight against those who fight against me (Psalm 35:1 ESV). “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. (Psalm‬ ‭54‬:‭4‬ ESV). Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands ‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭63‬:‭3-4‬).

Amen.
